What are we doing wrong as parents ?

As parents always thriving to do our best, it can sometimes be very confusing with so many messages in press, what are we doing wrong ?
Error 1 : Hidden sugars in breakfast cereals / bars / biscuits  - read the labels. 
Error 2: Refined foods (rice , pasta , bread ...) eaten excessively. 
Error 3: Processed / ready made snacks are not the right choice > prepare healthy home snacks instead.
Here are some Facts:
  • Kellogg's cornflakes : salt as much as a pack of crisps
  • NestlĂ© Cheerios multi grains:  8.6g of sugar !!!!
  • Capri sun : artificial sweeteners harmful
  • Danone : 10g of sugar + artificial sweeteners 
  • Yakut : 2 tsp sugar each
  • Flora pro-active : artificial ...
By giving your children too much refined sugars it will affects their concentration,tooth decay and it will also create an addition to sugar !

  • Cut anything white ! 
  • Use Butter instead of fake butters 
  • More whole grains
  • Add Seeds (flax seeds for example)
  • Use lean source of protein 
As parents we in competition with all the marketing, In supermarkets,On TV,Online.
It's about education.It's about moderation.It's about explaining them. Passing message on why.

Another important factor to look into is supplementation.
Children need  Vitamin A, B > energy, C>  immunity,D > calcium to absorb in gut,Calcium ,Iron ,Magnesium,Potassium , Zinc >immunity , growth and development .

Children weight loss > Making It A Group Effort

Losing weight and Obesity  is still is a sensitive subject for everyone and even more for children and teenagers. Knowing how to approach children /  teenager's weight problem is very important otherwise it can work the other way and become something negative.

Make It A Group Effort

Singling out an overweight child is likely to backfire and cause resentment between family members. The whole family should strive to make healthy changes. Make it a group effort.
Look up healthy recipes for dinner with your teenager and come up with alternatives to higher-calorie treats, like swapping crisps or chocolates for fruits or home made healthy baking.
The family can also go for walks or enjoy a game of football together to get moving. We welcome children in most of our classes to come along with their parents. We also run children specific classes >>> here 
A friendly competition may also help children get motivated -- maybe the first one in the family to lose 2 kilos  next month can get out of a household some chore...
